A Domaining Tool I Can’t Live Without

Actually it’s not specifically a domaining tool, but very useful none-the-less.

There are many occasions when you do research on a particular domain or in a particular niche, when you are shown a table of results for link popularity, google phrase matches, cost per click for particular search terms and so on. It’s not always easy to log the information quickly in a spreadsheet for analysis; sorting, filtering etc.

This is where an excellent Firefox extension called TableTools come in.  It makes copying a whole table on a web page then pasting into a spreadsheet a doddle.

You can do filtering and sorting right on the web page just by right-clicking and selecting the appropriate function, ‘Show/hide select filters’ is one such option that you will find under the ‘Other table operations’ menu.  Sorting is achieved by using the ‘Sort table column as’ menu.

I normally right-click anywhere in the table then select ‘Copy as tab delimited text’ from the ‘Other table operations’ menu. This will allow you to right-click on a cell in the spreadsheet, click Paste and voila, one neatly organized table of info ready to be number-crunched, to enable you to make a more informed decision about your domain purchases etc.

’til next time.
